Hello! My name is Natalie and I find it weird trying to figure out what to write myself in these things. I’m 26 and was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. I spent 4 years living in Adelaide making house, before splitting with my boyfriends (and 2 furbabies) and moving back in with my parents in Sydney. They then sold the house I grew up in and my new life started in The Darling Den late 2012.
I like to dabble in graphic and web design, but am currently un-employed due to my mental health. Blogging is my full time hobby, and I invest a lot of time into the blog. It helps keep me busy, creative, and pushing my boundaries. It’s been a great help and I’ve met a lot of wonderful people.
I’m a bit of a nerd, or geek, or whatever you want to call it. I have a huge passion for Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. My favourite movie of all time is Labyrinth, which prompted a love of David Bowie from a very very young age. I previously worked in the Convention industry. I could spend hours talking about Harry Potter, Gilmore Girls, Queer as Folk, Doctor Who, Firefly and Veronica Mars.
Sometimes I believe that I like animals more then humans. I share my life with fur children Frodo and Tonka. I will make any excuse to go and visit any sort of animal park, and was able to cross ‘Meeting/feeding/petting Hippos” off my bucket list.
I’m shy when meeting people and find it hard to approach people. I don’t like using the phone and find that i’m quite horrid at keeping friendships because of it. I don’t know how i’d survive without email and sms. I’m passionate about things and quite stubborn in my beliefs.
I’ve been blogging for 10 years now and opened XL as Life in 2009 as a place to share my life with friends and family back home. It’s since progressed to cover my love of fashion and my belief of being plus size positive.
I was born with brown hair, but my natural hair colour is pink.
I was born, raised, and live in Australia, but my spiritual homeland is New Zealand.
This blog was started as an outlet. I have a crazy passion for fashion & with the amount of blogs out now, I wanted to have my say as a Plus Size Alternative Australian Fatshionista! Geez, that was a mouthful!
Over the years I’ve grown to accept & embrace my body. I am who I am, I like who I am. If people decide to judge me for my size, my hair colour, my piercings, that is their own decision.
I have a somewhat quirky fashion sence. I blame it on being a Gemini. One day I can dress as girly as can be, the next it’s all black. I like to mix and match. I find any excuse to dress up. I am inspired by everything.
Black. Glitter. Lace. Silver. Floral headbands. Pink. Boots. Polka dots.
