Lustlist – End of April loves.

Oh heyyy! It’s been an age since I’ve done a lustlist! Well, a couple of months at least. I’ve not online browsing too much. My cat is sick (i’ll do a post about that later) and all money is going to vet bills. I can be an emotional shopper so, i’ve not been tempting myself. These are a few things I have stumbled across and wanted to share.

RIVER ISLAND – Plus pink tie dye sequin shell T-shirt – $52.00 || I’m not a huge fan of shirts TBH, but this one just calls out to me! Colourful, sequins, boobs, it’s totally mermaidtastic!

ASOS – Daisy Street Plus Mesh Insert Jersey Dress – $49.00 || So, this Lustlist, you may see that it includes many sname pieces. Now, you may not know snakes are my FAVE animal. Yes, snakes. The thing is, you don’t normally see many snake things. Thank you Gucci for bringing snakes into fashion!!

ASOS – Pleated Skirt in Metallic with Sports Waistband – $59.00 || I have a similar holographic silver skirt that I love, but this is pink, and a total show stopped!

ASOS – Cropped Metallic Cagoule Jacket – $88.00 || Always in need of more jackets since I moved to Melbourne.

EGO – Kassia Blue Snake Ankle Boot – £39.99 || Snakkkkes! Ego had a few snake items they selled out super fast.

ERSTWILDER via HUG ME HARRY – Theodore The Trim Taipan Brooch$34.95 || My parents bought me my first Erstwilder brooch around 4 years ago, maybe 5. I’ve been collecting them ever since.

ERSTWILDER via COCONETTE OZ – Senpai the Sensitive Brooch – $28 || Pink, kitty and ON SALE!

SARSPARILLY – Turn My World Print Cotton Dress – $291.17au || The only way this dress could be more perfect, was if it was Jareth on the print. However, I’d take Sarah. How stunning is this though? The cut/style is perfection!

ERSTWILDER via COCONETTE OZ – Sunny Smiles Brooch – $25 || Another SALE brooch, I’m going through a real brooch phase atm. It’s not being helped by a facebook group i’m on!

BLACK MILK – Rave Snakes Velvet Cropped Leggings – $70au || I haven’t bought any Black Milk in awhile, but these are screaming my name. I’d love to try more of their new styles to add to me ‘Black Milk on a Plus Size body‘ page.

BLACKMILK – Audubon Owl Pocket Midi Skirt – $120 || Owls are my 2nd favourite animal, and while I don’t wear a lot of brown (it was my school colour), I just can’t go past the print on this. Plus it is a midi skirt WITH POCKETS!

LA VIDRIOLA – Snake Earrings – 39.00 € || These earrings are GOALS, they have a matching necklace too which makes me turn into the heart eyed emoji!

CITY CHIC – Rose Adore Dress – $139.95 || I’ve been rocking my other CC Rose print dress all over the place, but I love the skater style of this dress, plus the added mesh! CC you are doing it right!!

But wait… there’s more!

TORRID – Boyfriend Jeans with Star Wars Patches – $98.90 || Guh! Torrid, why do you do this to me!? These are the perfect looking jeans to me, then add in the Star Wars patches, and just, YESSSS!

HOT TOPIC – Harry Potter Hufflepuff Joggers – $38.90 || Do I really need to explain these? PUFF PRIDE!

TORRID – Star Wars Droid Tatooine Bomber Jacket – $88.90 || Mmhmm, you know I need this bomber jacket!! The only thing better than this would be if they did an Ewok one! (Please, make an Ewok one and send me 2!)

HOT TOPIC – Miss Peregrines Emma Bee dress – $54.90 || I quite liked the Miss Peregrines movie, but this dress spoke to me on another level. I love bees and bee print (Yes, I am animal crazy, you hadn’t noticed?) and the cut of this dress makes it look like one that would be SO easy to wear.

TORRID – Bowie Goblin King Scoop Tee – $34.90 || Labyrinth, ahh, Labyrith. This is my ALL TIME favourite movie. I’ve easily seen it over 100 times and can quote it off by heart. This shirt almost makes me want to cry. Long live Jareth <3

Sadly, I never really order from Torrid or Hot Topic, no matter how much I love them. Their shipping is just crazy, not something I can justify. It starts at $58us, so to buy that Bomber alone it would cost $195.88AU 🙁

Concert/Event/Review – Adam Brand

Now wait a minute, I know, I know, you’re probably thinking “wait, what? Adam Brand?”. In fact, I had a friend who asked what I was up to and replied “and you think you know a person” when I explained I went to an Adam Brand concert. Here is the thing, I LOVE music. I’m one of those people who wish they were musical, but suck at it, so they immerse themselves into just listening and loving music. And let’s just say, my music taste is varied. Very varied. So when my friend Mallory mentioned going to a gig down the road from me, I was set to go, if only just to catch up with her. I’m happy to say, I had a fantastic time.

Event/Concert/Review - Adam Brand

In all honesty, I didn’t know much about Adam Brand. My main knowledge was from a long time ago, in a suburb far far away (well Parramatta is pretty far from where I live now). Back then I often tagged along with friends to Speedway, where ‘Dirt Track Cowboy‘ was constantly played.

Event/Concert/Review - Gemma Louise Kirby

The show opened Matt Cornell & Gemma Kirby. I now have a full-fledged lady crush on Gemma Kirby. Once I have some spare $$$ after paying off these vet bills, I’ll be buying her album. She did a cover of 4 Non Blondes ‘Whats Up’ and KILLED it (in a good way!).

Event/Concert/Review - Gemma Louise KirbyGemma & I, as well as Mallory & I. The lighting was terrible for pictures!

From what I could figure out Adam did a mix of old and new songs, and while I enjoyed the older songs, the new songs were AMAZING! Much more commercial and less country, but still with a bit of country taste. His newest song “Get on your feet“, which is also the name of the album and tour, certainly made you, well, get on you feet. In fact, I’m pretty proud I spent the whole concert on my feet, in heels, for the first time since I broke my foot!

The whole vibe of the concert was great, Adam has a bubbly, charismatic personality that he shows off on stage and interacts well with the audience. Not only did he pose for some selfies whilst mid-song, but even borrowed a phone to take some special on stage photos. He brought some chocolates out from backstage to share around, had some drinks delivered to some lovely elderly ladies sitting at the front and even played the drums. He had fun, which made the whole show so much more entertaining.

If you can, I’d highly recommend you check out one of the upcoming shows. I’m considering checking out a 2nd show, this coming Friday in Mornington, but all dates can be found HERE.

What is the favourite concert you’ve ever been to?

Mental Health – My thoughts on 13 Reasons Why

Trigger Warning – This post talks about Mental Health, Suicide, Self Harming and other similar topics.

Like so many other people, I was drawn into the Netflix series “13 Reasons Why“, based on the book by the same name. I binge watched the 13 episode series over 2 days and was warned by multiple people not to watch the last episode alone. I’ve seen a few facebook/twitter posts and read a few articles and I just wanted to touch on a few things. Share my opinion and my story.

Going into the TV show, I knew the basic premise. That it dealt with a suicide and high school students. Even if you didn’t know that before watching, you pick it up pretty quickly. The following episodes focus on Clay listening to a series of tapes left by Hannah explaining the downward spiral that led to her suicide.

Mental Health - My thoughts on 13 Reasons Why

It’s raw and rough to watch, but relatable. I am forever thankful I went to high school in a time before most social media took off. For me, it was emails and ICQ. High school was still a horrible experience for me, but I can only imagine how much worse it could have been. I share some of my thoughts on my high school years over here “Was high school really hell?

I’ve had mental health issues from an early age. I started councilling in Year 3, I started self-injuring in Year 7, I’ve attempted suicide and I’ve had a good friend, as well as a family member, die by suicide. Watching the show, I understood a lot of what Hannah was thinking.

A lot of people are saying that the last episode is too graphic. It isn’t right to show such a detailed suicide scene, that it glorifies suicide. This is the scene I was warned about, and to be honest, it didn’t shock me. You knew it was coming. Sure, you don’t expect to see such a scene in a TV show, but it’s suicide. It isn’t pretty and they didn’t paint it to be pretty. They showed the helplessness of it, the desperation of it, the commitment, the utter resignation that this is the best possible thing that can be done. Through the whole series, you see the aftermath of what this moment leaves behind, but in this last episode, you also witness the moments straight afterwards. The finding of the body, the shock and the heartbreak it causes. I think if anything, it shows suicide as it can be. Sure, it could give someone ideas, but it’s more likely to save someone’s life.

Mental Health - My thoughts on 13 Reasons Why

One thing that sat with me throughout the whole series was the tapes. I guess these are left as a sort of suicide note, a telling of her side of her story, of pointing fingers and trying to make sure that some people knew the truth. I’m not sure what her end goal of making them was, but I feel that a lot of it was very hurtful and selfish. Then again, suicide is both hurtful and selfish. I can honestly say that the main reason I am still here today is because of other people. I’ve felt and seen the hurt that suicide leaves behind. It’s horrendous. In saying that, she is a teenager, and hey, before my last attempt, I would have been very happy to have left a big “fuck you” in the form of similar tapes to a few people who propelled me into feeling that suicide was my best option.

I’ve also seen a few people saying that Hannah is over-dramatic. No. I can’t stop you for thinking that, but YOU never know what someone else is feeling. Everyone feels things differently. As someone who has BPD, I get this, for me, molehills ARE mountains. Hannah does actually have a lot of the BPD traits, and I find it interesting that mental health was never actually brought up at all in the series.

I think mental health and suicide needs to be talked about more, it’s one of those things that gets pushed aside, whispered in secret, swept under the rug. It shouldn’t, suicide is real and it’s something that a hell of a lot of people consider at some point in their life. I don’t know if it’s talked about more in schools these days, but it was never mentioned when I was there. My school counsellor had me talk to my parents because she wasn’t able to give me the help I needed, but I only visited the counsellor because my friends were worried and told my year advisor.

So yeah, those are my thoughts. It’s been awhile since I’ve sat down and talked through my thoughts and feelings on something, but this show left me feeling a lot of things.
