Adelaide Zoo

2010 has been crazy so far. From power outages on NYE, a whirlwind weekend trip from one of Best Friends from Sydney, to my niece coming to live with me for a few months. Oh, not to mention 2nd degree sunburns. (Yes, I applied sunscreen, rather religiously, but it seems I missed a spot!)

The last day of Lou’s visit, we braved the heat and visited Adelaide Zoo. I’m one of those crazy animal lovers & if I had the money I’d visit the Zoo weekly! One of the main reason’s why I was so excited this time was because of the new Panda exibit! To be honest, I was a little let down. We waited in line for over an hour, only to be rushed past. Funi was out and slumering in a corner of her exibit, but Wang Wang was in his night quarters, only his head visable. They did have a big display screen so you could watch him. I am glad I got to seem them though, being the only Panda’s in the Southern Hemisphere, and no doubt I’ll be visiting the zoo whilst they are still on display. Hopefully then they’ll be out of quarintine!

This Orang-Utan was most amusing! He carried that sack all around his enclosure until he made it to the highest point, then curled himself up & hid underneath it.

Probably my favourite animal at the zoo! (Along with the meerkats!) I am hoping to save the money to one day do the Hippo Close Encounter (see here)
