How You Can Makeover Your Kids’ Bedrooms

Within your home, you want your kids to feel like they have their own space. To give them their own space, you must invest and focus your efforts on their bedrooms. Giving them somewhere to play as well as somewhere to sleep and enjoy is important. Designing and creating kids’ bedrooms can be challenging, especially if you have not done it before. However, following your kids’ needs and wants (as well as your own) will make the whole journey fun and enjoyable.

Focus on a New Design

To achieve a successful makeover in your kids’ bedrooms, you must focus on a new design. Simply changing a few bits here and there is no good, and if you are not careful, it will make a room look disjointed and chaotic. A new design will feature what you want and what your kids want and need. This may be a new design that features somewhere for friends to have a sleepover party. Or, if your kids are entering a new phase (such as their teenage years), they may require more personal space that is a reflection of them.

Get Input from Your Kids

Your kids may want crazy color schemes, or they may want film-related bedding, and unless you ask them what they like and want, you will never know. Getting input from your kids may seem crazy, but it is their room, after all, and you want them to enjoy it. Taking specifics from what your kids give you and bringing everything together will leave you with a room that is personal and well-suited to your kids and their personalities.

Focus on Good Quality Furniture

Even though you will be working to a budget, you mustn’t compromise on quality. If you are buying cheap furniture, you will find that it will not last. Furniture in your kids’ bedrooms must be hardwearing, long-lasting, and high-quality – or else you will find that you will be replacing and changing things more often than you like. For example, look at purchasing heavy duty bunk beds that grow with your kids instead of cheap flat-pack furniture that is likely to buckle and break. Also, look at investing in solid wardrobes and dressers that will not warp. Cheap furniture will lose its shape when it has pressure on it. Think about how many clothes, accessories, and toys your kids will put in their furniture, and think of the pressure furniture will have to sustain

Setting a Budget

You want to makeover your kid’s rooms as affordably as possible. Setting a budget early on in the project will allow you to keep control of the costs. When you are setting a budget, be sure to account for everything, from new flooring to paint, furniture, and even accessories such as wall art and lighting. Share your budget with your kids, and allow them to choose (or select) one thing that they would like to have in their room. As they get older, they will want a bit more responsibility, and this is one way you can give it to them.
