What’s Driving the Demand for Designer Vagina Surgery

It has been observed that the number of women and even teenage girls looking for female genital cosmetic surgery is in a constant increase. The main reason being that they don’t like how their vagina looks like. This is fuelled by the ideology that there is that particular way that the vagina should look like. It no longer enough to have a beautiful face.

Medical Vaginal Surgery
Not all women looking for female genital cosmetic surgery are doing it for cosmetic use; for some, the procedure is carried out for medical purposes. Aging and childbirth can leave vaginal muscles loose, and some women find the need to rectify this vaginal surgery will help with this. Vaginal dryness after menopause can also be taken care of by vaginal surgery.

What a female genital cosmetic surgery entails
A designer vagina is created by either surgical or non-surgical treatment. The surgical treatment looks to change the appearance of the vagina. There are three types of vaginal surgery, vaginoplasty, hymenoplasty, and labiaplasty. Vaginoplasty is the tightening of the vaginal muscles. Hymenoplasty is the restoration of the hymen and labiaplasty is the reduction of the labia minora or labia majora.
Statistics show that labiaplasty is the most common type of vaginal surgery. Vaginoplasty is performed with the aim of tightening a loose vagina resulting from either ageing or child birth. The procedure is carried out under the administration of local anaesthesia where some skin from the back of the vagina is removed, and the remaining skin stitched back together. Vaginoplasty is used medically after a prolapse to return the rectum or bladder to the original position. Vaginoplasty is also referred to as vaginal reconstruction.

Reasons for the rise of female genital cosmetic surgery:
1. A distorted view of normal genitalia
Some women have a distorted idea of what normal genitalia is, this is to say that they do not understand what is normal and this may cause them to seek FGCS even when their vagina is perfectly normal.
2. More attention to women pubic region
Many women are paying close attention to their pubic area due to grooming. Once they have removed their pubic hair, it becomes easy to see everything down there and judge the appearance of the labia. Most women will remove their pubic hair with the hope of being clean, neat and even streamlined and so once they see as if the labia is extended further than they deem appropriate they are likely to seek a labiaplasty.
3. Exposure to the plastic surgeons’ work.
Plastic surgeons in a bid to market their services take up the opportunity to display the results of labiaplasty in social media. This creates a frenzy, and people start imagining what it would be like to have the kind of genitals displayed and thus some are likely to act on it and seek female Genital Cosmetic Surgery.

As seen, vaginal surgery can be both medical and cosmetic (Europe Surgery).  It is essential to understand the implication of the procedures, especially since it is permanent. Teenage girls need to realise that their bodies are still developing and that unless their genitalia are interfering with their day to day life or sexual life, then it is perfect.
