MS Word is the most popular and commonly used word processing software, but this format has its own flaws. DOC and DOCX files are not preferred for sending or sharing and most users use online PDF converters to convert their word documents into PDF. Portable Document Format (PDF) is a widely used format for sharing files over the internet due to its security and compatibility features. PDF’s are universal as they are viewable on any device and operating system. Read to on to find out some good reasons why you should convert your Word files to PDF.

    1. PDF Documents Preserve Their Format:

PDF documents never lose their formatting no matter which platforms, operating systems, and devices they are transferred to. On the other hand, a Word document can look completely different on a Mac than on a Windows Computer. Furthermore, if one doesn’t have the Microsoft Office installed in his device and Word files show poor formatting when opened with LibreOffice. Converting PDF to Word on sodapdf prevents the changes from occurring in the document format. Thus, a PDF document will look the same when viewed on a phone, tablet, e-book reader, or a computer. PDF is a highly recommended format when you have to share files across different devices and operating systems as the format of the document will be preserved the way the author created.

    2. PDF Documents have Don’t have Several Versions:

Many versions of Microsoft Office have been released since its first launch. Microsoft Word has been altered and improved with every new release. This means that the files created in an older version might not open correctly in the newer versions of the software. Thus, the Word files saved in a new version cannot be opened in the old versions. On the other hand, PDF documents are not linked to any specific version of the PDF reader or Adobe’s PDF reader. That means no matter how old your PDF document is, it can be viewed with the latest versions of PDF Viewers and it will look the same as it did previously.

    3. PDF Documents Cannot be Altered:

Many confidential documents should not be allowed to change by anyone other than authorized persons. Word documents can be easily edited and altered but PDF files offer security and protection in this regard. The documents that should be protected from alteration include invoices, handouts, contracts, essays and research papers, and result sheets. If your document contains a signature or a watermark, you don’t wish it be altered. All such documents should be sent in a PDF format to protect them from alteration.

    4. PDF Documents can be Encrypted:

Encryption adds a further layer of security to your PDF documents. Although Word documents can also be saved as “read-only,” the text can be easily copied from the read-only Word file. PDF documents can be encrypted by adding a password so that no one can alter or copy the content in the document without your consent. Word documents are usually at high security risks. Thus, PDF protects your confidential documents from cyber-attacks.
